A Day in the Life: Diving with Blue Salt Divers
Whether you join us for our 8:00 AM morning charter or our 1:00 PM afternoon adventure, every trip with Blue Salt Divers is designed to showcase the very best diving St. Croix has to offer.
Your Day Begins
Arrive at our waterfront dive center in Christiansted where our friendly team will help you get checked in, sized for any rental equipment, and ready for your adventure. Our custom dive boat, Lil Salty, is located at our dive center. We'll load up and head out to some of St. Croix's most spectacular reef systems.
Before departure, your guide will provide a thorough dive briefing covering the day's sites, conditions, marine life, and what exciting encounters we might expect beneath the surface.
Dive One: Exploring the Reef
Our first guided dive lasts approximately one hour and is tailored to the conditions and experience level of the group. You might descend onto vibrant coral formations covered with schools of blue tangs, parrotfish, and yellowtail snapper. Keep your eyes open for southern stingrays resting in the sand, curious sea turtles cruising the reef, and perhaps even one of the eagle rays that frequently visit our local sites.
Your professional guide leads the way, pointing out hidden creatures that many divers would otherwise swim right past—from tiny flamingo tongues and lettuce sea slugs to octopus, lobster, and sleeping nurse sharks.
Surface Interval
After the first dive, relax onboard with fresh water and snacks while enjoying views of St. Croix's beautiful coastline. Your guide will answer questions, identify marine life sightings, and preview what awaits on the second dive.
Dive Two: A New Underwater Adventure
Our second one-hour guided dive takes place at a different site, giving you the opportunity to experience another side of St. Croix's underwater world. Depending on conditions, we may explore dramatic coral ridges, sandy channels frequented by eagle rays, healthy reef ecosystems teeming with tropical fish, or one of our deeper signature sites.
Every day is different, and that's part of the adventure. Our captains and instructors carefully select the day's dive sites based on weather, sea conditions, currents, and visibility to provide the best diving experience possible.
You may find yourself exploring world-renowned St. Croix dive sites such as Salt River, known for its dramatic underwater canyons and rich marine life; Eagle Ray, famous for frequent eagle ray encounters; Turquoise Bay, with crystal-clear water and thriving coral reefs; Long Reef, one of the Caribbean's largest barrier reef systems; Blue Chute, a diver favorite featuring stunning reef formations and swim-throughs; or the legendary Scotch Bank, where exceptional visibility and abundant marine life often create unforgettable dives.
No two dives are ever exactly the same. One day may bring multiple turtle encounters, while another could surprise us with southern stingrays, Caribbean reef sharks, large schools of horse-eye jacks, octopus, lobster, eagle rays, or even a pod of dolphins passing by the boat. Every trip offers a unique opportunity to experience the incredible biodiversity that makes St. Croix one of the Caribbean's hidden diving gems.
Back to Christiansted
After the second dive, we'll make our way back to the dock, sharing stories and photos from the day's adventures. Most trips return around noon for the morning charter or around 5:00 PM for the afternoon charter, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the rest of your day in paradise.
